Objectives
At the completion of the course, students are able to:
 
  • Identify and discuss various steps in a criminal prosecution
  • Apply basic vocabulary used in criminal procedure
  • Identify right to counsel at various stages of criminal proceedings
  • Describe the validity of arrests and searches
  • Discuss protections granted in the U.S. Constitution as they apply to states via the Due Process Clause of the 14th Amendment
  • Discuss the exclusionary rule and entrapment
  • Demonstrate appropriate remedies for governmental misconduct
